Mung beans can usually be found at your local grocery store. In the event that your local grocer doesn’t carry them, you may have better luck at an organic or “health food” type grocery store. There are a few places online where you can order them as well, including Amazon.
Remember that over time (months), the mung beans will break down and may have to be replaced. While some people say that mung beans possess medicinal properties that they will impart to your hands over time, even if this is not actually true, they are still a good material to begin your training with since they are tough, but not as hard as the more advanced materials like rock and steel shot.
Even if it takes you a while to find some mung beans, it’s going to be worth the wait. Some people may be tempted to start with a harder material; this is almost assuredly a bad idea. Palm conditioning is a slow, gradual process that needs to follow a slow progression. It’s better to begin with mung beans one month from now than it is to begin with rocks or pebbles today.
